Impact My Neighborhood Canvassing
Canvassing is something you can do on your time schedule and an easy way to invite our community to church with some basic information. This is also a wonderful opportunity to get some fresh air, exercise, get to know others, and may eventually lead to God conversations.

During this one week tour across the United States to the Southeast, we will partner with churches in Ashland, Pittsboro and Charlotte to host Impact events and block parties. During this one week tour across the United States to the Northwest, we will partner with churches in Sidney, Twin Falls, and Portland to host Impact events and block parties. LBC is partnering with Golden Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist Ashgrove in Missouri for two simulateous events.  Our teams will help to provide an eye clinic, food pantry and haircuts to name a few, two neighborhood block parties, and most importantly having the opportunity to pray and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the guests we serve.

LBC is partnering with a local church plant in Denver, CO to assist in hosting several community block parties to facilitate new connections and relationship building for the Gospel.

Buddy Bags for Students and Families

Each week LBC provides take home groceries to over 40 qualifying families in the Shawnee Mission school district through our buddy bag program. Buddy Bags are designed to provide food items to families in need. These bags are delivered to the school counselor who quietly places them into a student’s backpack. An example of items sent home are macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter & jelly, crackers, etc.

Sorting donations, bagging food items and delivering buddy bags to local schools are some of the ways you can serve on the Food Pantry/Buddy Bag ministry team. Good News Club

As a church, we are working alongside Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) to startup Good News Clubs within our local partnering schools. We are looking for 7-8 volunteers per club to run the after-school program once a week for 12 weeks in the fall and spring semesters. If you are interested and enjoy loving on kids while sharing the Good News of Jesus, please sign up below.

Helping Hands of LBC

Our hope is to support the physical needs of individuals who are a part of Lenexa Baptist Church.  While we are supporting the spiritual needs of our body of believers, we also want to support everyday physical needs, if possible.

Our ministries key verse is:

Hebrews 6:10 God is not unjust, he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

Sanctity of Life Week

Advice & Aid, Resource Health, and Wyandotte Pregnancy Care Centers are on the front lines of serving others walking through an unplanned pregnancy. Each person is created in the image of God, who is the giver and sustainer of life, and as a church we want to encourage and care for those in need. If you would like to minister alongside one of our local mission partners by serving these mothers and fathers, please signup below.

Cleaning & Paper Products Supply Drive

Hope Is Alive (HIA) and House of Hope are two local mission partners we support at LBC. Hope is Alive has two recovery homes in Kansas City for individuals seeking freedom from addiction and growth in their relationship with Christ. HIA has been helping restore lives and families impacted by addiction for over 10 years. The House of Hope serves teens and families with a mission to be a guide in the healing process for teens, while helping to pave the way in restoration of family relationships.

As a church we would like to help these organizations stock their yearly cleaning and paper product supplies. For HIA we will be collecting all cleaning products, for House of Hope we will be collecting paper towels and laundry detergent. If you would like to donate, please sign up below.

Helping the Homeless of Johnson County

Project 1020 in Lenexa, is the only cold weather shelter for those facing homelessness during the winter season. As a church, we have opportunities to help serve on the evenings of February 25-26.  The volunteer areas are front desk, dining area, serve/cleanup detail, baked goods or providing an evening meal.

Disaster Relief Training

Becoming a Disaster Relief Volunteer provides an excellent opportunity for firsthand service to people in need. Training is open to any member of a Southern Baptist Church who is at least 18 years of age. Attending training does not obligate you to serve but is necessary before being deployed to serve with a specific team. Teams include chainsaw, mud-out, recovery, mass-feeding, chaplaincy, communications, etc. If interested in serving, please sign-up below.

Bringing Hope & Healing to KC

The week of spring break is a great time to serve others. Students and families will have opportunities to devote part of their break to bringing hope and healing to our community by being the hands and feet of Jesus. This includes serving meals at Mission Southside or serving alongside House of Hope in areas such as organizing share closet, painting or lawn care. Church Workday at LBC

As we look towards Easter Sunday, our facilities team is looking for volunteers to help with a few projects around the church. Packing Hygiene Kits

In an effort to help meet the needs in multiple areas of the world, LBC has partnered with Heart-to-Heart International packing hygiene kits that will go directly to refugee families all over the world. Invite your family and friends to serve alongside you while packing hygiene supplies for those in need. Each timeslot is broken down into one and half hours of serving. Children 7 years and older are welcome.

Teacher appreciation week is a magnificent time to celebrate those teachers and administrators who serve our students and families across Kansas City. Here at LBC, we have many teachers across the Shawnee Mission, Olathe, DeSoto, KCK and Blue Valley school districts. LBC is partnering with Raceway Ministries of Kansas City to host a hospitality tent at Kansas Motor Speedway.  We’re looking for 20 volunteers to participate in sharing the love of Jesus with families and fans staying at the speedway RV park. Opportunities include setting up the hospitality tent, carnival games, grilling hotdogs, crafts with kids, hot wheel’s derby and canvasing the campgrounds. Sunday morning, we host a worship service before the race and will be in need of volunteer greeters.

Advice & Aid Walk for Life

The Advice & Aid “Walk for Life” is a family fun event for all! Check-in begins at 8:30 am and kick-off is at 9:00 am on Saturday June 1st. Please join us as we walk a 2-mile route to raise support for women and families who seek hope and healing through the Advice & Aid Pregnancy Center. There will be entertainment and activities for the kids with food, games and prizes! This is a great way to support life in our community and pray for those who serve others with Christ-like compassion before, during, and after an unplanned pregnancy. Click below to sign up.

First Responder Meals

We are looking for volunteers to deliver box lunches to our local police and fire stations. This is a great event for the whole family to be able to say thank you to our first responders as well as pray with them and invite them to join us for the God and Country worship service where we honor those who serve our country and community. School Supply Drive and Prayer Walk

LBC has partnered with six different elementary schools in Shawnee Mission and KCK school districts to help stock their supply closets at the beginning of the school year. We have committed to provide over 4,000 school supply items.

Coats, Hats & Gloves for Kids

Schools in our community are in need of winter coats, hats and gloves for kids 5-11 years old. In October, donations can be dropped off in the FLC or K-Hall lobbies. Please serve these families by providing new or slightly used items by October 27th. Operation Christmas Child

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. When you build a shoebox, it provides believers in remote regions a creative way to share the Good News in a culturally sensitive manner and to bless families who, in many regions, have never heard the story of Jesus before. In addition to packing a box, we have many volunteer opportunities to help collect, sort and stack the boxes during and after collection. Thanksgiving at the Mission

Come bless the residents of City Union Mission this Thanksgiving by serving a Thanksgiving dinner meal on Tuesday night, November 26th. We are looking for volunteers to help serve the men of the mission from 3:30 to 7:30 pm. (Children 13 and up.)  It will be a great night of serving, fellowship, and worship as we join them in Chapel after dinner. Mission Christmas Toy Drive

City Union Mission is looking for volunteers and gift donations for their annual “Mission Christmas.” This helps support thousands of income qualified families and individuals across Kansas City by being able to shop free at the Christmas Store for gifts for their children and spouses.

Shelter KC is hosting their 5th annual Christmas celebration at the Truman Event Center from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on December 21 to help adults experiencing homelessness this holiday season.  Volunteer positions are available to help serve meals, hand-out care packages, and much more.

This blessing blitz focuses on packing hygiene kits for refugee families in Ukraine. We’re looking for 300 volunteers to signup across three different time slots on Saturday, November 12th.
