The Special Needs ministry desires to provide a safe and secure environment for an individual with special needs to learn God’s word while the parents worship at Lenexa Baptist Church.
Sundays
9:30 & 11:00 a.m.
The Special Needs Ministry of Lenexa Baptist Church focuses on ministering to children with identified special needs through a Sunday School ministry while parents attend worship or are serving within the church. We currently offer Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. for 6th grade to 21 years old. At 11:00 am, we offer Sunday School for PreK through 5th grade.
We also have buddies for adults whose parents have requested their child attend the worship service accompanied by a volunteer.
Special Needs childcare is not available at other times or in other ministry areas, including special events except Vacation Bible School (K-5th grade students). However, we will try to make accommodations for other opportunities as volunteers become available. Please address this desire with the Special Needs coordinator. Otherwise, the parent(s) may stay with their child during those ministry times, provided that the child is within the age or grade range for the ministry, and the child is exhibiting appropriate behavior during that ministry event.
Volunteer Opportunities
In the Special Needs area, our staff consists of volunteers who love children with disabilities, but may not have special needs training. However, all volunteers who work in the special needs ministry are required to complete training on special needs ministry and how to work with children with special needs.
