Kent Hackathorn joined the Lenexa Baptist staff full time in March 2004, as the Recreation and Facilities Pastor. Kent has had the blessing of watching God use the Upward program reach the community with the gospel message. In September of 2006, Kent became the Young Families Pastor. This position included all of the children's ministries as well working with our young families to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. This will enhance their marriages, parenting skills and ability to impact their world for the Savior. In November of 2008 Kent became the first Middle School Pastor at LBC. The continual growth of the church has allowed Lenexa Baptist to enjoy the benefits of having separate High school and Middle school ministries. This allows each ministry to be more effective in reaching each student at their level of their need. Kent has a Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas. He is currently taking classes for a Master's degree in Religious studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Cindy have two children, Tavis and Kelcey.

Kent gave his life to Christ as a teenager at a family church camp. However, it wasn't until after a serious motorcycle accident in his mid 20's that he began to pursue God's purpose for his life. "God provided opportunities that didn't make sense at the time, but looking back I now see how God's hand was working to shape me for this exciting ministry position.

Jeremiah 29:11 which says:

This verse truly came to life as he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ.

Kent seeks to combine recreational activities, His passion for students, and the good news of Jesus Christ to help bring to light God's simple plan of salvation.
